Environmental/Civil Engineering Student (Fall 2026 Co-Op)

Introduction

Get hands-on experience, explore different areas of environmental engineering, and make a real contribution from day one.

We’re looking for a motivated Environmental or Civil Engineering student who wants more than a typical co-op experience. At PSARA, you won’t spend the semester stuck doing the same task or watching from the sidelines. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, geologists, and project managers on real environmental projects, gaining exposure to field work, engineering design, environmental compliance, remediation, water resources, and more.

If you’re curious, eager to learn, and looking for a co-op where you can build practical skills while figuring out what areas of environmental engineering interest you most, this is a great place to start.

Who you are

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a related field
  • Eager to learn, grow, and gain hands-on engineering experience
  • Committed to demonstrating integrity, collaboration, positive energy, and a strong work ethic in their work and interactions
  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Thrives in both office and field environments, willing to travel as needed for projects, and able to maintain a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

What you'll be doing

As an Engineering Co-op, you’ll support a variety of environmental and engineering projects while working alongside an experienced team. You’ll gain exposure to many aspects of our business, with opportunities to assist with site investigations, environmental monitoring, storm water and wastewater design support, construction oversight, spill response and remediation projects, soil and groundwater sampling, environmental compliance activities, technical reporting, data analysis, cost estimating, and other project-related tasks.

One of the unique advantages of PSARA is the opportunity to experience a little bit of everything. Rather than being limited to a single project type or service area, you’ll work on a diverse range of environmental challenges and learn how engineering, natural sciences, and regulatory requirements come together to solve real-world problems. As you develop your skills, demonstrate initiative, and build confidence, you’ll have opportunities to take on increasing responsibility and become more involved in project planning, technical evaluations, and project execution.

This role provides hands-on experience in both field and office environments, direct mentorship from experienced professionals, and regular interaction with our Director of Engineering, Vice President, and President/Owner. You’ll develop technical, communication, and problem-solving skills while helping deliver meaningful solutions for our clients, communities, and environment.
