Environmental Technician – Bloomington
Introduction
A typical week might include mowing and maintaining facility grounds, servicing equipment, collecting groundwater samples, inspecting pump stations after storms, pressure washing treatment equipment, and helping our treatment plant operator with routine operations and preventative maintenance tasks. This position primarily works regular daytime hours with opportunities for overtime and occasional after-hours emergency response support. If you enjoy working outdoors, operating equipment, using tools, fixing things, and working on a variety of tasks, you’ll probably enjoy this role because every day is a little different!
Who you are
- Reliable, self-motivated, safety-conscious, and able to work independently once trained
- Mechanically inclined and comfortable using hand and power tools
- Willing to work outdoors year-round and perform physically demanding work
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Experience in maintenance, construction, plumbing, farming, or a related field is a plus, but not required
Environmental experience is not required. PSARA will provide extensive training.
What you'll be doing
- Maintain facility grounds and property conditions, including mowing, weed eating, and minor repairs\
- Perform routine maintenance on treatment facilities and equipment
- Collect groundwater level measurements, groundwater samples, and treatment facility samples
- Assist with special projects such as sediment basin cleanouts and confined space entry operations
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, equipment readings, maintenance activities, and sampling events
- Support emergency response activities and occasional after-hours work when needed
- Occasionally travel to support projects at other locations, typically fewer than 20 days per year with most travel completed as day trips and little overnight travel required
